About Our Hunts: |
|
|
Our Waterfowl hunts run from the last week of September through November 1st. Our Fall hunts coincide with the stopover in our areas of the Hundreds of thousands of ducks and geese in the North American Central and Mississippi flyways adding to our already high resident bird population. New flights arrive almost daily dependant on weather, and the birds don't leave until inclement weather and freeze-up force them south at the beginning to mid-November.
These birds have not seen a decoy in almost 6 months and we have great success in putting the birds in your face with wings cupped and feet down by decoying with small to medium size spreads.
We run from 5-35 dozen shells, super-mags, full body, and Real Geese Pro Series decoys for Canada's. Our duck rigs consist of 4-7 dozen decoys with 2-3 powered spinning wing decoys mixed throughout and a vortex with wind spinners, as well we have over 800 snow goose Sillosock, North wind, life-size Shells, Real Geese Silhouettes, and flyer decoys as well e-callers that make for an ultra-realistic spread and some tremendous shoots. The majority of our hunts are spent over decoys in grain fields, but we also have access into some great private and public lakes and marshes which can produce awesome multi-species duck shoots. Field Hunts are out of comfortable layout blinds, water hunts are run out of portable or permanent blinds, Jon boats with blinds or good old fashioned wader hunts. Let us tailor a package to meet your needs.

Species Hunted: |
|
Field Shoots:
The species encountered afield vary by hunting day, but typically field goose shoots include some or all of: Greater Canada Geese, Lesser Canada Geese, Cackling Geese, Lesser Snow Geese, Blue Geese, Ross’ Geese and the grand-daddy of the Geese; the Giant Canada Geese which can weigh in at 16+pounds.
Dry fields also produce great duck shoots as well including; Northern Mallards, Pintail, Gadwall, American Widgeon, Woodduck, and Blue and Green wing teal. A bonus bird occasionally encountered while field hunting early season is the Sandhill crane.
Water Shoots:
The multiple species that will be encountered over water are all of the above as well as, Redheads, Canvasbacks, Greater Scaup, Lesser Scaup, Ruddy Duck, Buffleheads, Black ducks, Goldeneye and Northern shovelers, also coots and snipe and multiple species of Mergansers. |
|
Limits: |
|
Limits are quite liberal in our area with limits being 8 ducks per day with 2 days possession allowed, as well as 3 days possession of Canada Geese, of which limits are 5 per day. 20 White Geese are allowed daily with a 4 day possession limit. Early morning Canada goose limits usually allow for some personal sightseeing, some R & R in the hottub or games room, or nature hikes out from the resort before the afternoon duck hunt. |
|
Hunt Packages: |
|
Our all-inclusive Hunt package is a 3 day/5 hunt package. This includes 3 morning hunts which as often as not have us packing up early with Canada limits and possibly a few bonus ducks or snows, and 2 afternoon hunts for ducks or later in the year possibly Snow Geese. We like to run things on a more personal level with a maximum of 6-7 hunters per group and at least one guide and one scouter assigned to your group to ensure the quality of your hunt and quickly remedy any concerns if they arise.
We offer hunts in 3 different seasons and 2 different camps:
Main Camp - Manitoba's Interlake Region
Our main camp is located in the World famous Interlake region with fall hunts offered for Honkers, multiple species of ducks and snow geese combined. Being one of the best areas for hunting the Giant honks in North America, we often enjoy a lot of leisure time between hunts back at camp. The main species of ducks we encounter in the fields are Mallards, Pintail, Widgeon, Gadwall, Wood-duck, and Blue and green wing teal, with 80% of all ducks seen being mallards. The snow and blue goose hunting can also be fast and furious during the peak of the migration (approximately September 25 – October 20th most years). Hunt cost is $1550.00 Canadian for the 3 day hunts all inclusive.
West Camp - The Prairie Pothole Region
Our west camp is located in the prairie pothole region of Manitoba which is one of the premier areas in North America to shoot light geese (snows, Ross’ and Blues) as well as Sandhill cranes. The puddle duck shooting in this area is also World Class. Both greater and lesser Canada population are also really good which makes for a real nice mix of types of hunts available here in 3 seasons, they are:
Fall Duck and Goose combo
3 day hunts run from the last week of September until the 3rd week of October which are a combination of dry field and pothole shoots for 15 species of ducks, Snows, Ross’, Blues, Canadas and the odd bonus sandhill crane earlier in the season. 2007 Special - $1350.00 Canadian all inclusive on the 3 day Combo hunts!! (this camp only)
Early Fall Sandhill Crane only or Crane Snow Goose Combos
It is not uncommon to see 2-3,000 cranes in a day here and the season opens early September. We offer Crane only hunts at $400.00 Canadian daily up to the third week of September. During the 3rd week of September, we offer a combination 3 day Crane and Light Goose hunt that allows you to shoot both species the week before the duck and Canada goose seasons open. The Combo hunts are the same structure and pricing as the Combo duck goose hunts and some hunters like to stay on for an extra few days to take advantage of the season opener on ducks and geese.
Spring Conservation Snow Goose Season
This season is one of the best kept secrets in Manitoba. We have access to one of the few areas that you will see the Spring migration of snow and blue geese stop in Manitoba. We run these hunts from the second week in April through May 1st. Numbers of birds seen daily are impressive to say the least and we normally have fantastic shoots on these lightly pressured birds. Daily rates are $400.00 Canadian with a 2 day minimum with limits of 20 birds daily.
Special note on pricing
Our hunts have averaged a $100 a year price increase due to the rising cost of fuel and the devaluation of the US dollar in the last 5 years. We are committed to maintain our current pricing on any hunts booked with deposits for future years. Many hunters book as much as two years in advance to get the better pricing as well as reserve their favorite dates.
